Allies: No one likes them enough to admit to it.
Rivals: The Illusionists.
The Grey Philosophers teach that life is without objective
meaning. They use this as the basis of a
magical philosophy centered around strengthening the mind against outside
influence, hostile or otherwise. The Grey Philosophers are considered humorless
solipsists by most other magical practitioners, and don’t often get invited to
parties.
Empty Mind 13
points
Style
Prerequisites: Magery 1 (not
One-College).
A practitioner of Empty Mind seeks stillness of
being as a method of protecting himself against outside control. He will also use its spells to empty the
minds of others, when necessary, to defend his physical self. The goal is not use one’s mastery of mental
magic to control others, but to control oneself.
Empty Mind is taught in a traditional master/apprentice
relationship, and is never taught to anyone who has studied another style. Most practitioners are dedicated enough to
the style’s teachings that they don’t study any other magical styles after learning
this one. On the other hand, martial
styles or meditative disciplines are quite popular.

Edited 1/27/16: I corrected a couple of minor errors in the prerequisite list and took See Invisible out of the Shortcut to Power Perk (if you have the style you have the six prereqs. Oops.)

ReplyDeleteI love new magical styles! You should post this up over at the GURPS Magical Styles Netbook
http://wiki.rpg.net/index.php/GURPS_Magical_Styles_Fan_Netbook
or on the GURPS Repository
http://gurpswiki.wikidot.com/magical-styles
(or both really!)
I have several I'm planning on posting. I'll probably do about one a week until I get all the ones I've finished posted.
ReplyDeletecan't wait to see them!
DeletePost them on Thursdays!
